
Quick Bangers and Mash with Cabbage & Onion Gravy
Ingredients
- 6 pork sausages (bangers)
- 1 package premade mashed potatoes
- 2 cup green cabbage, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cup beef or chicken broth
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Steps
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook sausages 10–12 minutes, turning until browned and cooked through. Remove and keep warm.
- In the same skillet add olive oil and cabbage. Cook 4–5 minutes until softened. Season lightly with salt and pepper and set aside.
- Add butter to the skillet, then sliced onion. Cook 6–8 minutes until soft and golden.
- Sprinkle flour over onions and stir 1 minute.
- Slowly whisk in broth and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer 3–4 minutes until gravy thickens. Season to taste.
- Heat premade mashed potatoes according to package instructions.
- Plate mashed potatoes, add sausages, spoon cabbage on the side, and pour onion gravy over the top.
- Garnish with parsley if desired and serve hot.
