
One-Pot Sukiyaki
Ingredients
- 12 oz thinly sliced beef (ribeye or sirloin)
- 1 small napa cabbage, chopped
- 1 cup shiitake mushrooms, stems trimmed
- 1 medium carrot, sliced
- 1 block firm tofu, cubed
- 1 small leek or 2 scallions, sliced
- 0.5 cup soy sauce
- 0.25 cup mirin
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 cup dashi broth (or substitute chicken broth)
- 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
- Cooked rice or noodles, for serving
Steps
- Mix soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and dashi in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add beef slices and simmer 2–3 minutes to release flavor.
- Add cabbage, mushrooms, carrot, tofu, and leek.
- Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer 10–12 minutes until vegetables are tender and broth is rich.
- Drizzle sesame oil if using, then serve hot with rice or noodles.
