Classic Bread Pudding
Ingredients
- 6 cup day-old bread, cubed (French bread, challah, or brioche)
- 2 cup milk or half-and-half
- 3 large eggs
- 0.75 cup sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 0.25 tsp salt
- 0.5 cup raisins or dried fruit (optional)
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
Steps
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Place bread cubes in a greased 8×8 baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
- Stir in raisins or dried fruit if using.
- Pour the custard evenly over the bread, pressing gently so it soaks up the liquid.
- Drizzle melted butter on top.
- Bake 40–45 minutes until the top is golden and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Add ice cream or caramel sauce if you're feeling adventurous.
